Brendon Leitch’s fantastic year in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe crowned a solo champion again this year. Leipert Motorsport’s Brendon Leitch won the 2023 Pro title by beating the other two-driver crews at the end of an exciting fight that was decided in the final round at Vallelunga. After contesting the 2019 campaign of the Asian regional series, the New Zealander came back to the Lamborghini one-make series context, in which the OMP brand is the exclusive supplier of the suits and internal safety components for the car, such as rollbars, seat, harnesses, steering wheel and fire extinguisher.

“It has been a fantastic year, I cannot thank my team enough for everything they gave me and for the incredible car we had. The trick was to always be consistent, driving smart and keeping my head up in every race. That is how we brought home the victory”, Brendon told ompracing.com at the end of the season.

Leitch’s consistency is proven by the numbers, with 10 podiums out of 12 races, including two wins at the Nurburgring and Valencia. To maintain this pace, the work together with the team was crucial. “Together with my engineers we never stopped improving the set-up. Sometimes we gained just a tenth per lap, which may not seem so much, but from weekend to weekend it becomes a decisive factor. In motorsport, every detail counts”.

The Kiwi driver was then able to get the most out of the Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo EVO2, which he described as “a great challenge to drive, but also a lot of fun and super rewarding“. The reason is “the Super Trofeo car has all the mechanical grip of the GT3 model, but with more horsepower and a little less downforce”, Brendon explained.

Still speaking of details, Brendon also rated very highly the OMP products he used during the year. “The Super Trofeo suit is probably the most comfortable I have ever had. I loved it”, he pointed out. “Inside the cockpit, the seat and the harnesses are perfectly integrated. OMP is a fantastic partner for Lamborghini and I hope the relationship continues long into the future”.

Brendon also chose the helmet from Bell Racing, part of Racing Force Group together with OMP. Again, the assessment is enthusiastic. “I switched to Bell helmets a few years ago because they are the most comfortable ones. I particularly appreciate the visibility they provide. This is a key factor for a driver, because without a good view you can’t go fast!”.
