Volkswagen Motorsport, loyal OMP partner, made history. The I.D. R prototype car, driven by veteran Romain Dumas, broke the record of Pikes Peak International Hillclimb with a full electric car. The previous best time for the 19.990 Km of the historical path was 8:13:378, and was set with a twin-turbo car. Last sunday, Dumas - equipped with complete OMP racewear - stopped the time at an amazing 7:57:148.
This result gives more than a clue about what will be motorsport's future like, with electric cars offering more and more winning performances.
Another record, in this memorable edition, was set by another faithful OMP friend: Simone Faggioli was second overall, and set the record for RWD cars.
